ABVP demands scrapping of CSAT, protest outside UPSC

Our activists protesting outside the UPSC office on the issue of CSAT & mains exam were allegedly lathicharged by the cops even as more than 300 were arrested by the Tilak Marg Police and Parliament Street police on Monday evening. We staged a protest outside the office of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) here, demanding the scrapping of Civil Services Aptitude Tests (C-SAT).

Our activists had gathered outside the UPSC office at 2 pm and started raised slogans. ABVP National Secretary Rohit Chahal said, “The UPSC has degraded the value of Hindi medium students and aspirants by introducing C-SAT. We would not sit silent till UPSC rolls back this test.” Mr Chahal also said that the ABVP had called a nation-wide protest against C-SAT and held demonstrations at 200 universities in different parts of the country. The protesters also demanded a four-year relaxation in age for those appearing in the civil service examinations. The police tried to removed the protesters but when they refused to budge, the police had to use mild force to disperse them and resort to water canons against them.

Later, around 400 protesters, including 50 women, were detained at the Tilak Marg police station, the police said.

The Protest were held across the country by the ABVP Yesterday demanding to scrap C-SAT.
