Accommodate MBBS 2016 batch for NEET PG 2022

Eligibility criteria of Internship completion should be extended to accommodate the 2016 UG batch

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) wrote to the Union Health Minister - cum - Chairman, National Medical Council regarding notification issued by NBE for the advertisement of NEET PG 2022. The announcement of the date of the entrance examination of 2022, before the conclusion of NEET PG 2021 counselling, has created much chaos among NEET PG 2022 aspirants. Also, the 31st    May criteria of Internship completion have left around ten thousand students ineligible from the 2016 UG batch to appear in the exam, who otherwise would have covered in the NEET PG held this year owing to delays of Covid situation.

ABVP is of the view that no intern of the current batch should be considered ineligible to give the exam as it is the regular year for the students undergoing internship at present.

While commenting on the Postgraduate teaching, Dr Virendra Singh Solanki, National Convener, MeDeVision said, “A gap of just four months between two consecutive batches will also impact skills impartation to resident doctors. Hence due care should be given for having enough academic opportunities for two batches in residency.”

Highlighting the demands of Vidyarthi Parishad, Sushri Nidhi Tripathi, National General Secretary stated, “The Eligibility criteria of Internship completion should be relooked and changed so that all the Interns of the current batch become eligible for the exam. ABVP also suggests making the whole Postgraduate (MD/MS) admission process efficient and avoiding the situation of counselling like 2021. The process of examination, result and counselling should be synchronised so that the counselling process starts within 10-15 days after the result.”
