Clarification
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) would like to clarify that we have not undertaken any campaign on the issue of un-uniformed students wearing Hijab, Burkha or saffron shawl to schools or junior colleges which have a mandatory policy of Uniform Dress Code.
The radical Islamic “student” organisation Campus Front of India is trying to tarnish ABVP’s image with unsubstantiated claims about ABVP agitating in opposition to the Burkha-clad CFI cadres. It should be known that Campus Front of India is the student wing of Popular Front of India (PFI) - the very outfit which has been chargesheeted for the Delhi riots in February 2020.
While ABVP stands with the Kerala High Court judgement in 2018 on the issue of hijab, our agitation at present is only to demand Justice for Lavanya. No attempts at communalising educational spaces and diverting attention would make us take a step back from demanding Justice for Lavanya.
